This is important as centrifugal pumps suffer from over heating and cavitation and can be permanently damaged if they run dry. The reuse system in the City of Round Rock was implemented in order to establish a way to reuse water. The reuse system utilizes "used" water such as the water leftover from showers, sinks, dishwashers, and other appliances that create a surplus of water to water crops, grasses, or other field areas in the city.

There are currently 17 automatic recirculation valves in this layer.
